Santa brought a mini vacation to Traverse City with family friends for Christmas this year!! New Year’s Day we drove to northern Michigan thinking it was going to be a winter wonderland- to our surprise it wasn’t. It was about 30ish degrees and there was hardly any snow, I guess everywhere in Michigan is experience the strange winter weather. The first day we walked around downtown Traverse City visited our favorite coffee shop Brew, tried the samples and bought a few things at Cherry Republic and had a great lunch at Poppycocks.
We had planned on going sledding at the Sleepy Bear Dunes, but when we arrived there wasn’t much snow there either. It was more like being at the beach in your snow gear, which was strange. But the girls loved playing in the sand and Jared had a great time flying his drone over the dunes, as we hiked to the top. Once we got to the top, there was a portion that was snow covered so we were able to sled! I think I’m getting a little old for the cheap plastic sleds, I need the big blow up one now.
The next day after a great breakfast at Patisserie Amie and hung out the pool. The Grand Traverse Resort (where we stayed) has a water playground that everyone had fun playing in. It worked great since there was a huge pool that has all the activities in one, so you are able to all be together. All in all it was a great few days with great friends!
