December 1, 2016With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, it got me thinking about what I’m thankful for. Of course, I’m so thankful for the stuff that most people would recite – my health, friends, and family. But why am I thankful for these things? I started to think about each more in depth and wanted to share them with you.
Health – I’m very fortunate that this year everyone in my family including myself is healthy. I know there are many others who can not say the same, and my heart goes out to them.
Friends – I have learned that as I get older that quality is definitely better than quantity. I’m so thankful for the quality friends that I have. My life is busy and I want to spend my time with those who matter to me most.
Family – Where do I even start? My fiance is truly the best thing that has ever been mine. Each day with him is a blessing and there is no one else I would rather experience the highs and lows of life with. He has shown me what it feels like to be truly loved and I’m so thankful for him each day. The best gift he has given me was inviting me to be apart of his family and letting me love his three kids as if they were mine. I’m beyond thankful that the kids have accepted me in their lives and treat me like I have always been there. Until Steve and the kids, I never realized how quickly you can love something and cherish it.
I have always been thankful for my parents and the life they have provided for my sister, brother and I. However, it wasn’t until I watched them take on the role as grandparents so quickly and enthusiastically, that I fully understood how lucky I am that they are my Mom and Dad. The same goes for my brother and sister who have embraced my family and treat us all with love and care.
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. And when you have time, take the time to reflect on why you are thankful for the things you are.
