Last weekend we had the opportunity to go see Brain Candy at the Fox Theater (thanks Erica!!). I always enjoying going the Fox Theater even as a child, there is something so magical about the old architecture and being at a theater. This was the kids first time attending an event at the Fox, so we decided to make a fun evening out of it downtown. We all got semi-dressed up and headed to Detroit for dinner before the show. Since it was freezing on Sunday, we opted to eat somewhere within close walking distance and that was good for kids. We ended up going to Angelina Italian Bistro for the first time, which was a great choice! They had gluten free pasta, so I was sold- I had the Mediterranean Linguine which was amazing and we were so proud of Camden for being adventurous and getting the Lamb Gnocchi.
It was such a neat experience to see the kids faces light as they walked into the Fox , it really is such a treat to go to a show at a theater of this scale. Of course we needed to load up on popcorn and candy, before finding our seats. The show itself was pretty good, it started out strong, but lost the attention of most of us right after intermission. During the intermission the hosts had the audience tweet any questions and they answered them when they came back onstage- this part was not entertaining. I did enjoy the fact they thoroughly explained how and why everything worked or didn’t work, so the kids were learning without realizing it. Overall we had a great night!
