A few weeks ago, when it was actually winter in Detroit- you know snow on the ground and the temps were below 40 degrees, we went ice skating at Campus Martius Park. Every year we try to take the kids ice skating downtown at least once, this year was for Camden’s birthday weekend. My parents joined us and we made a day out of it, breakfast at Hudson Cafe, shopping at the Nike store, ice skating and dessert at Cannelle’s pop up location. I learned how to ice skate when I was around the age of 5, at a pond by my childhood house and with a white little chair that belonged to my grandparents. I use to think ice skating was like riding a bike, I could get out on the ice once a year and do wonderful. Well that is not the case, I can definitely still skate around in a rink- but I do not look as graceful as I once did and just going forward is a struggle. But I did not fall down once, so I consider that a win! Leighton is getting the hang of it, but still enjoyed having “Gpa” and I help her around the rink. While Camden and Jared both have the hang of it and were trying out their tricks.
